Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab Completed
June 11, 2013 marked the grand opening ceremony of Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab when the world’s most influential show in the lighting industry Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition was in full swing.
On the same day, Mr. Todd Straka, president of global business expansion of UL Lighting Products, and Mr. Scott Travis, business expansion manager of UL, were invited by Mr. Michael Xiao, general manager of Standard-Tech, to visit Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab in Guangzhou Science City. At the sight of the 6M total space rapid light-distribution photometer, 2M diameter integrating sphere system and a series of energy efficiency testing devices, they revealed that Standard-Tech is UL’s busiest lighting certification partner in Greater China and an important partner valued by UL. The completion of Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab indicated the extension of the successful partnership of UL and Standard-Tech in safety standard certification to energy efficiency certification. Well-equipped, Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab will receive UL’s support in energy efficiency certification to provide lighting customers with better services.
Next day, Mr. Sam Tse, senior engineer of UL Hong Kong, and Mr. Lai Hongyan, senior engineer of UL Taiwan, were also invited to visit Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab. Always known by the industry as UL’s first PPP partner (the highest rating of UL on cooperative organizations) in Asia, Standard-Tech has been conducting safety standard tests on the lighting products, and preparing reports without the supervision of UL engineers. Standard-Tech test data is recognized by UL and UL certificates can be issued. It has greatly enhanced the accessibility of UL certification services and shortened the certification cycle, and made Standard-Tech UL’s largest market share certification agency in Greater China for several years in a row.
After the successful operation of Safety Standard Lab, Standard-Tech has now established the Energy Efficiency Lab. It’s a major decision in response to the development trend of global lighting industry reflected in the gradual shift from traditional lighting source to LED lighting source and the increasing attention attached to product energy efficiency index in addition to product safety. It’s also a key move in answer to the detailed regulations and implementation measures in respect of energy efficiency of lighting products in the economically developed Western countries.
Standard-Tech Energy Efficiency Lab can now provide Energy Star and ERP Directive testing and certification services for most lighting products. More importantly, Standard-Tech can further provide lighting manufacturers with one-stop safety standard and energy efficiency testing services. Undoubtedly, Standard-Tech is better-equipped to furnish customers with better and more convenient services.
